British Tourist Among Three Killed in “Cowardly Terrorist” Attack in Uganda’s National Park
Three individuals, including a British tourist, were killed in a “cowardly terrorist” attack at Queen Elizabeth National Park in southwest Uganda, according to Ugandan authorities. The incident occurred during a pursuit of suspected members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel group. The ADF initially originated in Uganda but now operates in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as well. The group has links to the Islamic State.
The victims included tourists from the UK and South Africa, along with a Ugandan guide. The Uganda Wildlife Authority confirmed the tragic incident, emphasizing that all parks remain open while urging the public to allow the investigative process to proceed.
The British Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for Uganda, indicating that the attackers remain at large. Travelers in the area are advised to stay vigilant and follow guidance from local security authorities or tour operators. Ugandan authorities have recommended that individuals in Queen Elizabeth National Park remain in place overnight for safety.
