URA's Doris Akol appointed as IMF Advisor.

WASHINGTON, DC: Mrs. Doris Akol, the former Uganda Revenue Authority — URA Commissioner General has landed a new job at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC.

Mrs. Akol, who was head of URA for a period of six years until 2020 is set to work as a Technical Assistance Advisor at the IMF.

The development was first revealed by former KCCA Executive Director Mrs. Jennifer Musisi, who also left her office at City Hall in 2019 to work at Harvard University in the US.

“Congratulations to one of Africa’s most brilliant tax administrators and legal professionals on your ascension to Technical Assistance Advisor International Monetary Fund (Doris Akol). They’ve grabbed a gem!” Musisi Tweeted on Tuesday.

In Washington DC, Mrs. Akol will be working with the IMF department that provides technical assistance to IMF member countries in several public finance areas, including public financial management, tax policy and revenue administration, and expenditure policy.

She now joins other Ugandan women currently working in key positions at major international organizations and agencies, including Justice Julia Sebutinde who is at the International Court of Justice, and Winnie Byanyima who heads the USAID.
